Initial Expectations: I haven’t heard a single thing about this release, so I don’t know what to expect. The cast and director, however, give me good hopes.
Initial Reaction: It’s pretty good, and although not outstanding, it did have some hot sex.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is very good. You can hear almost everything, including during the outdoor scenes. It would have been great except for the last scene which is poorly dubbed. There is also a little wind noise in parts, but it isn’t too bad. As seems to be the norm for Michael Raven, the video is in widescreen. It’s a little grainy but not too bad.
Music: The music is pretty typical and rests very quietly in the background.
Menus: The menus are basic but the chapter menu does have the nice touch of listing the scenes by the girls in them.
Disc Problems: The feature is split over two titles. When you skip backwards from the start of the second title, it takes you back to the start of the feature rather than the previous chapter. Yes, this means that you can’t scan back once you cross into the new title.
The Feature: Puritan Video Magazine 27 follows the normal magazine format. You take several unconnected scenes, and put it on one feature. In this case, they don’t even include a little plot to setup the scenes. Each scene begins with the lady of the scene doing a little strip tease followed by the guy showing up and them bumping uglies. It’s a simple premise that’s probably in the introduction for the Porno for Dummies book, but it can work. Here, it has a lot of potential for working because there’s a lot of talent in front of the camera and one of the best directors around behind it. The opening credits start out very nice, showing each girl along with a short clip from her scene.
Felecia and April start things off with a nice lesbian romp. I had high hopes right away for this scene. Felecia almost always does a great job, and I’ve really been impressed with what I’ve seen from April lately as well. April starts showing her natural body with a nice tease around a fountain that really made me wish a fireman’s pole had been built into the fountain. Felecia also does a nice tease, showing some of her stuff while in the fountain. Her playful little smile goes a long way into turning this into a hot tease. It gives her tease a little different feel that I really kind of liked. The other guy welds in the background throughout the scene. The lighting for the scene flashes around to try and match the flashes from the welding, which makes the lighting a little interesting. He’s also used to break apart the different segments and position changes in the scene. I don’t like this style of doing scenes, but it’s a lot better than just cutting to the different positions. Bolivia lays back on Dillion’s stair-ladder for him to eat her and then turns around for him to finger her and lick her ass. He fucks her from behind and then lets her ride him as he lays back on the stair-ladder. If you turn the volume down really far it’s a really good scene. If you can hear the volume, it isn’t so good. It’s dubbed horribly! Even when the picture is on a down-under-close-up they couldn’t match it. Even during the great facial the audio was badly dubbed. It’s a very hot scene, as long as you don’t listen to it.
Puritan Video Magazine 27 fills it’s 100% guarantee of hardcore action. There aren’t any plots to worry about, which is good and bad. It’s good because you don’t have to worry about finding your remote control. It’s bad because I always enjoy a little setup. The girls here are good enough that I didn’t really care about the setup and the sex was hot enough that I normally forgot all about it. The only complaint I really had about the feature was there seemed to be quite a few times when I though a particular angle was held too long. I would have also liked a little anal sex, but this is a completely person opinion. If you’re a fan of any of the stars, it’s a great feature since you get a nice long scene with each star.
Extras: The photo gallery contains an impressive 85 photos, both full screen and snapshots with average to better than average quality. Trailers are included for six other Puritan features. Finally, there are links to both Puritan on-line and on-line shopping.

Overall: Currently, Puritan Video Magazine 27 can be found online for between $13 and $25 with all but one store offering it for $20 and up. At the low end it’s a great price. If you’re a fan of any of the stars here, it’s probably worth the price as they all do nice long scenes. The photo gallery is the only extra worth mentioning (with an amazing 85 pictures) and the technical aspects are very good.
Note to Puritan: Please include a few more chapter breaks in your features. Three chapters per scene would have been very nice (one for the strip, one for the action, and one for the pop). Also, please pay a little more attention to the technical matters. The last scene brought the DVD down because of how poorly it was dubbed.
